Résidences secondaires : quelles sont les destinations favorites des Français ?

L’Insee a réalisé une étude aux résidences secondaires en France. En effet, quatre sur dix se trouvent au bord de la mer, 16 % en montagne et 12 % dans des grandes villes. Plus d’un tiers est situé à trois heures de route ou plus de la résidence principale de leur propriétaire.

Le littoral à la cote

Seul un quart fait moins de 40 m2 contre une sur dix pour les habitations principales. Les chercheurs se sont intéressés à la localisation de ces résidences secondaires. 40 % sont situées au bord de la mer, 16 % en montagne et 12 % « dans les intercommunalités les plus densément peuplées », précise l’étude.

Elles se trouvent aussi en général loin de la résidence principale de leurs propriétaires. 38 % des résidences secondaires appartenant à des personnes résidant en France se trouvent à au moins trois heures de route de leur logement habituel.

Prisées par les plus aisés et les plus de 60 ans

Les foyers aisés représentent 34 % des propriétaires d’une résidence secondaire. Les ménages âgés de plus de 60 ans sont également largement majoritaires au sein des détenteurs de ce type d’habitation. Ils en représentent en effet deux tiers, et même trois quarts en ne prenant en compte que les régions côtières.

« 348 000 ménages détenteurs d’une résidence secondaire habitent à titre principal dans la métropole du Grand Paris », a par ailleurs calculé l’Insee. Les huit Etablissements publics de coopération intercommunale (EPCI) suivants concentrant le plus de propriétaires d’une autre habitation sont tous des grandes agglomérations. Il s’agit, dans l’ordre décroissant, d’Aix-Marseille-Provence, Lyon, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Nantes, Lille, Nice et Rennes.
